Technically, UV curing inks are solids rather than liquids after curing. UV excitation photoinitiator links with other particles in the mixture, causing polymerization and curing, forming solids and "drying". Traditional UV curing uses the whole ultraviolet spectrum of 200-450 n m, while UV-LED curing UV-LED only concentrates in a narrow range of ultraviolet spectrum, usually 395-405 nm. At present, although some UV inks are cured at 365 nm (mainly in the range of UV-A), most of them are concentrated at about 395 nm.
Main features of UV-LED inkjet printing light source:
There is no or very little volatilization of organic solvents. UV light source is used in UV inkjet printing.
UV light source does not contain mercury and belongs to environmental protection products.
UV-LED curing system does not generate heat. UV-LED technology can significantly reduce curing time.
The heat generated by the process enables people to print on thin plastics and other materials by UV.
Owing to the fact that UV-LED emits ultraviolet rays which can cure ink immediately, the drying time required by other technologies is saved and the production efficiency is greatly improved.
LED curing technology can also reduce the phenomenon of "two-way traction belt" in curing process.
Generally speaking, LED curing technology can not only simplify the printing process, but also make the end users who do not have screen printing knowledge get ideal printing effect.
